For a large-scale organization's engineering department, manually compiling who worked on what — and for how long — across a busy sprint was eating into time better spent shipping. Agmo's Forward-Deployed Engineering (FDE) team built an n8n workflow to automate the whole reporting loop.
How it works
- On a schedule, the workflow pulls each engineer's in-progress and recently-completed tasks from the organization's dev-tracking system (Azure DevOps).
- It calculates estimated and actual time spent on each task.
- Results are stored centrally, and a summary email is sent automatically to the engineering supervisor — no manual status-chasing required.
Why it matters
This is a pattern we reuse often for engineering and IT departments: connect the tools teams already use (project trackers, calendars, ticketing systems), do the calculation once, and remove the recurring manual reporting work entirely — freeing supervisors to manage outcomes instead of chasing status updates.
